Opportunity description

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is offering a consultancy opportunity in the field of health capacity strengthening under the Social Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Strengthening Project in Sudan (SISSIRP), funded by the African Development Bank. The consultant will support the development of healthcare workforce and institutional capacities across four Sudanese states through the coordination of training programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other health-sector partners.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Support the Ministry of Health and national health institutions in designing and implementing training and capacity-building programmes.
  • Coordinate closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other health-sector partners.
  • Conduct training needs assessments for healthcare workers and health institutions.
  • Support the development, adaptation, and implementation of national training curricula.
  • Organize and manage training courses, workshops, and capacity-building activities.
  • Monitor and document capacity-development initiatives and prepare progress reports.
  • Contribute to the preparation of partnership agreements and joint work plans.
  • Support field monitoring activities and coordinate with local health authorities.
  • Travel within Sudan to support project implementation and oversee programme activities.

Eligibility criteria

  • University degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Nursing, Medicine, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, completion of secondary education combined with relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for bachelor's degree holders, or 5 years for candidates with secondary education.
  • Experience in health programmes, healthcare workforce training, or capacity-building initiatives.
  • Previous experience working with international organizations, United Nations agencies, or non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Strong skills in reporting, analysis, planning, and programme coordination.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and data analysis tools.
  • Good knowledge of Sudan’s health system is considered a strong advantage.

Note: This position is intended for candidates who are residing in and able to work within Sudan. Preference will be given to applicants with strong knowledge of the Sudanese health system and relevant local experience.
