Opportunity description

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of National Protection Officer (Humanitarian Protection) in Gaziantep, Türkiye. The selected candidate will work within the Humanitarian Protection Unit to support the coordination and monitoring of protection activities for migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations, ensuring that programmes are implemented in accordance with IOM protection standards and donor requirements.

The successful candidate will oversee humanitarian case management activities, protection desks, referral and support mechanisms, while coordinating closely with government partners, international organizations, and civil society actors to ensure that vulnerable individuals have access to essential services and appropriate protection support.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of humanitarian protection activities.
  • Oversee the financial, administrative, and technical aspects of project implementation.
  • Ensure the quality and effectiveness of humanitarian case management services.
  • Develop, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protection tools.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to case management and protection personnel.
  • Strengthen and support safe referral mechanisms for vulnerable individuals and groups.
  • Prepare technical reports, donor reports, and programme documentation.
  • Coordinate with government institutions, partners, and international organizations.
  • Organize community outreach, awareness-raising, and capacity-building activities.
  • Supervise project staff and implementing partners to ensure quality programme delivery.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor activities, assess performance, and support project implementation.

Eligibility criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Master’s degree in one of the above fields with a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in humanitarian protection programming, case management, and emergency response activities.
  • Experience working with refugees, migrants, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable populations.
  • Experience in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programming is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience coordinating with government authorities, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Experience in capacity building and delivering training on protection principles and case management.
  • Strong analytical, coordination, communication, and report-writing skills.
