The ISESCO Centre for Promotion of Scientific Research (ICPSR) grant program is designed to give researchers an opportunity to gain experience in their academic field by working as a Research Assistant on a faculty member’s research project or on their own project under the close guidance of academic institution or scientific research center. These grants are intended to help in preparing researchers to undertake their own future research projects and to provide supplemental financial assistance.

Grants are provided in the following fields of research:

[1] Nanotechnology

[2] Health biotechnology

[3] Information and communication technologies

[4] Agricultural Biotechnology

[5] Engineering Sciences

[6] Biological Sciences

[7] Frontier Areas of Science and Technology

[8] Medicinal Plants

[9] Applied Sciences

Eligibility Criteria:

[1] Applicants  should be national resident of OIC member states

[2] should hold a PhD in the field in which the grant is requested.

[3] Researchers should hold a position in a public sector, university or public research institution where projects are proposed.

[4] The grants are given to young outstanding scientists under the age of 40 years from OIC member states where basic tools of research are seriously lacking.

The selection process is competitive. ICPSR program managers will review and evaluate each joint application and consider whether the researcher will be appropriately supervised and has the personal commitment to gain academically and become better prepared to undertake their own research in the future through this project and the mentoring of the Faculty or research institutions. Researchers and their institutions will be notified about the final selection decisions.


Researchers are awarded a maximum amount of$10,000, which is normally provided  for a period of two years. Requests for additional grants to allow the extension of a successful project will be considered by ISESCO, subject to the condition that  ISESCO program managers approve a satisfactory final report on the previous grant.

ISESCO Center for the Promotion of Scientific Research, (ICPSR) is an organ of the Islamic, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), which was established at ISESCO headquarters in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco. The Center was created to foster and promote all aspects of Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation. The Center also provides capacity building programs in Science and Technology for ISESCO Member States through policy advice and exchange of experiences and best practices as well as the organization of specialized activities and workshops, in addition to the support of exchange of students, researchers, scientists and technologists among ISESCO Member States.
