<p>VSO has announced it&#39;s need for an <strong>Education Specialist - Unlocking Talent</strong> as a <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Volunteer-Work" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>volunteer&nbsp;</strong></a>to work in Various Districts, Malawi.&nbsp;</p><h3><strong>About The Role:</strong></h3><p>VSO is currently implementing the Unlocking Talent Project in various primary schools in Malawi. The projects uses tablet technology to improve core competencies of reading, writing and mathematics for Standard 1 and 2 (early grade) primary school children. This is an exciting initiative that will among other things provide real time data to teachers and school administrators on learners progress. This therefore provides new and different opportunities and challenges that educators need to respond to.<br>Therefore the project is looking for an education adviser who will be able to train and support the teachers and school administrators to be able to respond to these challenges and to mainstream this new approach into their teaching as well as the overall school activities.</p><h3><strong>Skills, Qualifications And Experience: <br></strong></h3><ul><li>The ideal applicant would be a person who has at least five years of experience working in the education sector.</li><li>Applicant would have teaching and classroom management experience especially in the early grades (first and second year of primary school).</li><li>Additionally, the ideal candidate should have experience in using different and innovative approaches to improve learning outcomes; experience in using data/research outcomes to make and implement initiatives that would enhance learning; ability to self manage and set targets.</li><li>They should also have teacher training, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation experience.</li><li>Prior experience in using technology in education would also be a plus.</li></ul><h3><strong>Allowance:&nbsp;</strong></h3><p>As a VSO volunteer, applicant will be sharing his skills with local communities on a full time basis. VSO will cover the volunteer travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home. Applicant will also receive some financial support to contribute to his on-going expenses at home.&nbsp;</p><h3><strong>Accommodation:&nbsp;</strong></h3><p>VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.&nbsp;</p><h3><strong>About The Organization:&nbsp;</strong></h3><p>VSO is the world&rsquo;s leading international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty.
