FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship in Natural Products Chemistry and Compound Analysis in Brazil with a Monthly Stipend of BRL 12,570

The Institute of Chemistry at the University of São Paulo (IQ-USP) is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in natural products chemistry. The fellowship is offered within a research project examining molecular diversity and its role in determining the nature and specificity of interactions between plants and herbivores.

The research focuses on how chemical compounds regulate interactions between plants and plant-eating organisms, with particular attention to the biotransformation processes that occur within the digestive systems of insects from the order Lepidoptera, including butterflies and moths.

The selected researcher will contribute to the analysis of natural compounds and the interpretation of chemical data associated with plant–herbivore interactions.

• Receive a monthly fellowship stipend of BRL 12,570.
• Conduct advanced research in natural products chemistry.
• Work at the Institute of Chemistry, University of São Paulo (IQ-USP).
• Participate in a specialized research project on the chemical interactions between plants and herbivorous insects.
• Develop expertise in natural products analysis and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data interpretation.
• Collaborate with researchers specializing in chemistry, biology, and ecological interactions.
• Build a strong research portfolio and publish scientific papers in the field of natural products chemistry.

Applicants must:

• Have completed a PhD.
• Possess demonstrated experience in natural products chemistry.
• Provide evidence of relevant expertise through academic qualifications, scientific publications, and international research experience.
• Have strong experience in interpreting nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data.
• Demonstrate intellectual independence and a strong interest in continuing an academic research career.
• Be proficient in English.
• Be fully and exclusively available for the research project.
• Reside in São Paulo throughout the project period.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team, which will be considered an additional advantage.
