<p>University of Queensland ( QUT ) has announced about brown group biomedical engineering and material <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>scholarships</strong></a>. They are offering up to four <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/PhD" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Ph.D. scholarships</strong></a> in biomedical engineering and materials. This is high-performance Brown Group, who are relocating from Oxford University to QUT.</p><h4><strong>About the Brown Group:</strong></h4><p>The Brown Group combines advanced experimental and computational techniques to provide new insights into the structure-function relationships in biomedical materials. While focusing on musculoskeletal tissues and related biomaterials, the group maintains an active interest in other high-performance biological materials including spider silk and ivory. The Brown Group is also involved in a number of translational activities, including the development of new optics-based diagnostic devices, scalable nanostructured surfaces and 3D constructs for regenerative medicine, new devices and approaches for surgery, and automated analysis/interpretation techniques for medical imaging.</p><h3><strong>Research Projects</strong></h3><p>Projects with key Ph.D. positions available include:</p><ul><li>spider-silk: structure mechanics and synthesis.</li><li>understanding and exploiting the phenomenal properties of collagen.</li><li>surgery with rockets.</li><li>magnetically guided micro-rocket sutures.</li><li>controlling and harnessing collagen piezoelectricity for energy harvesting and biomedical materials.</li><li>development of an optical technique for the measurement of bioelectric fields.</li><li>development and exploitation of native spider cells and processing techniques for silk production and characterization.</li><li>You can read about the other projects from <a href="https://www.qut.edu.au/study/fees-and-scholarships/scholarships/brown-group-biomedical-engineering-and-materials-scholarships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a>.</li></ul><h3><strong>Eligibility Criteria:</strong></h3><ol><li>You must apply for and be admitted to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the university.&nbsp;</li><li>Your research proposal must be innovative and high impact.</li><li>Scholarship accepts applications from candidates from any academic background, provided you meet the eligibility requirements for the Ph.D.</li></ol><h3><strong>Funding and Benefits:</strong></h3><ul><li>You&rsquo;ll receive $27,082 per year, tax-free for up to 3 years.</li><li>You will be able to develop in-depth knowledge, understanding, and expertise in your chosen field of research.&nbsp;</li><li>Technical development will be coupled with extensive professional development towards an academic or research and development career.&nbsp;</li><li>You will benefit from access to flexible and bespoke experimental facilities, high-level scientific expertise, access to a range of local and international collaborators, and world-class facilities including QUT&#39;s Medical Engineering Research Facility (MERF).</li></ul><h3><strong>About QUT:</strong></h3><p>Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a real-world focus.
