Celestron Telescope Usage Course

Who Is This Course For?

• Sky observers through telescopes.

Requirements

• There are no specific requirements for this course.

What You Will Learn?

• Astronomy is a natural science that studies celestial objects and phenomena. Astronomy uses mathematics, physics, and chemistry to explain the origin and evolution of those phenomena and objects. Interesting objects include planets, moons, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and comets. Related phenomena include supernova explosions, gamma-ray bursts, quasars, blazars, pulsars, and cosmic microwave background radiation. In general, astronomy studies everything that originates outside the Earths atmosphere. Cosmology is a branch of astronomy. It studies the universe as a whole.

• Astronomy is one of the oldest natural sciences, and early civilizations in recorded history made systematic observations of the night sky. Among these were the Babylonians, Greeks, Indians, Egyptians, Chinese, Maya, and many indigenous peoples of the Americas. In the past, astronomy included diverse disciplines such as astrometry, celestial navigation, observational astronomy, and calendar making. In the present day, professional astronomy is often synonymous with astrophysics.

• A current look at astronomy Current astronomy is divided into two branches, theoretical astronomy and observational astronomy. Observational astronomy focuses on obtaining data from observations of celestial objects. This data is then analyzed using the basic principles of physics. Theoretical astronomy is geared towards developing computer or analytical models to describe celestial phenomena and objects. These two areas complement each other. Theoretical astronomy seeks to explain the results of observations, and observed observations are used to confirm theoretical results.Amateur astronomers have contributed to many important discoveries. Astronomy is one of the few sciences in which amateurs can play an important role, especially in discovering and observing transient phenomena.
