As part the International Girls in ICT Day 2019 celebration, the Arab Women Organization (AWO), in collaboration with the Regional Office for Arab states of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunication (CIT )- Egypt, is launching a competition titled " Digital Innovation and Creativity for Girls "aiming at stimulating innovation and creativity of girls to produce digital solutions to the challenges and problems facing their communities. The competition also offers Arab girls the opportunity to develop their digital skills to enable them to continue studies and pursue a career in ICT and ICT-related fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and tech- Entrepreneurship (ESTEM).

Competition goals:
- Encourage girls to create innovative ideas and solutions to encourage them to study in STEM fields and pursue a career in ICT-related fields.
- leverage their digital skills to develop ideas and applications designed to solve the problems facing their communities.
- Develop skills to identify problems and design solutions for them.
Eligibility:
- Age 15 to 22 years (as of 1st October 2018).
- Holder of the nationality of one of Arab Women Organization member states.

About the Girls in ICT Day:
International Girls in ICT Day is an initiative launched by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2011. The initiative aims to create a global environment that empowers young girls and women to study in the rapidly growing ICT field. This day is celebrated on Thursday, April 4th of each year. Since the launch of the initiative in 2011, more than 357,000 girls and boys from 171 countries around the world have participated in more than 111,000 celebrations. These events have enabled girls around the world to take an interest in ICT studies and thus pursue careers in STEM fields. This celebration has become a global movement in which various activities are organized throughout the year. Participation in this event empowers girls with the required digital skills to contribute to the acceleration of progress in achieving the goals of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
