Opportunity description
The International Film Festival Tofifest, organized by the Biuro Kultury Foundation, welcomes applications from creators from around the world. The festival will be held on October 19-27, 2019 in Torun, Poland. It presents a cinema presenting independent and bold content, touching on significant and original topics, trying to establish cultural bridges between different regions, both geographical and social. The festival discovers young talented artists, both Polish and foreign, and conducts a wide promotional activity of their films.
Festival competitions:
As part of the Festival, three competitions take place:
- International Feature Film Competition "on Air". The competition presents the first and second films of directors. Films created after January 1, 2018 are accepted. Priority in the selection of premiere films (ie those that were not presented in Poland at any festival held before the 17th edition of the Festival).
- International Short Film Competition "Shortcut". Short documentaries, animations, experiments and short stories not longer than 30 minutes created after January 1, 2018 can be submitted to the competition. Priority in the selection of premiere films (ie those that were not presented in Poland at any festival held before the 17th edition of the Festival).
- Polish "Poland Form" competition. The contest can include feature films, documentaries and animated films made in Poland or in Polish co-productions after January 1, 2018. Pre-screening films have premieres (ie those that were not presented in Poland at any festival held before the 17th edition of the Festival ).
Festival selection:
The applicant is obliged to send a link to the website where the film can be viewed. The reference provided by the Applicant must be active throughout the duration of the selection, and in the case of the film being qualified for the competition - until the end of the Festival.
Each submitted film (having dialogues), the original language of which is not English, must have subtitles in English or an attached dialogue list in that language with time coding.
The following materials must be attached to the film in electronic form:
- movie description.
- pictures from the film.
- photo and biography of the director.
- dialogue list in English with time coding in electronic version (online).
The following carriers are accepted for festival screenings: Blu-Ray and DCP. Only in exceptional cases are DVD copies and 35 mm tapes accepted.
Awards:
During the Festival, the following prizes will be awarded:
- Grand Prix - Golden Angel: award for the best film in the ON AIR competition.
- Golden Angel: award for the best film in the SHORTCUT competition.
- Golden Angel: audience award for the producer of the best film in the FROM POLAND competition.
Honorary awards - non-competitive:
- Flisak: Award of the Mayor of the City of Toruń for the best creator from the region.
- An award for creative insolence for an outstanding figure of Polish and European cinema.
