TIFF – Experimental and Animation Films Without Dialogue

FilmFreeway is calling upon all filmmakers to take part in TIFF – Excremental & Animation, Without Dialogue Film Festival competition.

Tatsuno is located 100 km west of Osaka, Japan. This year, the people of Tatsuno organized a new experiment: the Tatsuno International Film Festival - Experimental & Animation Without Dialogue. The Tatsuno Art Project (In order to strengthen our operational structure, we may change our name to a new organization starting in 2021.), which is the mother of this film festival, has been working since 2011 to utilize the cultural heritage of the region, to disseminate outstanding art internationally, and to promote communication with local residents.

Rules and terms of festival:

1. We have an experimental video division and an animation division.
2. There is a Student Affairs Department in each of the two divisions.
3. There must be no dialogue in both categories.
4. The work must be 10 minutes or less in length for both categories.
5. In the animation category, at least 70% of the work must be produced by animation.
6. The work must have been completed on or after January 1, 2019.
7. The festival does not pay any screening fees or other expenses to the applicants.
8. The festival does not cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the winning entrants.
9. The festival will provide a pass to the award ceremony in case of the winner’s visit.
10. The Festival reserves the right to reject any film that, at its discretion, incites discrimination or hatred.
11. The Festival reserves the right to use up to 10% (maximum 30 seconds) of the film as publicity for the Festival.
12. Applicants must hold the copyright and the right to show the work related to the work.
13. Due to the Tatsuno Art Project (In order to strengthen our operational structure, we may change our name to a new organization starting in 2021.)’s showcase screenings (mainly for publicity purposes), there may be additional screenings at other venues. In this case, we will contact the director in advance.
