Opportunity description

The Arab Thought Foundation, announces the second edition of the "Short Story Competition" for high school students. The competition will continue until December 15, 2018, and the winners will be announced during the second Education Conference organized by Zayed University in March 2019 in cooperation with the Arab Thought Foundation.

Judging Criteria:

The jury comity consists of three educational experts, who will evaluate the stories based on scientific criteria, run 20 stories for the short list in the first stage, and select 10 winning stories.

Contest Topics:

The competition has two categories:

  1. Text Category: Participants can write one or several texts about the importance of the sustainable environment and the risks resulting from its neglect and the negative impact it will have on the planet in general and on humans in particular.
  2. Literature Category: Participants in this category have to write a short story.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. The texts should be written in standard Arabic.
  2. The number of words should be between 250 and 500 words.
  3. The text mustn't be previously published.
  4. The participant must be a student at a high school for the academic year 2018-2019.
  5. Participants can submit more than one text in this competition.

Prizes:

  • Each of the top 10 winners is awarded $ 500.
  • Each of the winners on the list from rank 11 to rank 20 will be awarded the US $ 150.
  • The 20 winning texts are published in a book bearing the names of the winners.
  • The 20 winning texts will be published on the Arabic web page and on the project's communication media.
