Opportunity description
UNESCO is seeking nominations for the 2018 UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize. The Prize will recognize a significant contribution to press freedom, especially in high-risk areas.
Member states, international/regional organizations, or professional/nongovernmental organizations working in the field of journalism and freedom of expression can nominate up to three candidates.
Awarded annually, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day (May 3rd), the prize is marked by a ceremony and the winner is presented with a sum of $25,000 USD.
Journalists, organizations, or institutions that promote press freedom worldwide can be nominated for this award.
