ZERO PLUS invites filmmakers around the world to participate in the 8th edition of the festival from 26 September to 3 October 2022 in Russia.

DOCUMENTARY, POPULAR SCIENCE, EDUCATIONAL FILMS

  • Year of production: 2018 -2022
  • Duration: from 3 to 100 mins

The non-competition program:

  • feature and short films, documentaries, and animated films of any duration and year of production, which correspond to the festival criteria.

AIMS OF THE FESTIVAL:

  • Promotion and popularization of high-quality films, which foster a positive, creative and formative worldview in children and young people, strengthen traditional common human values like friendship, family, creativity, profession, nature, etc.
  • Integration of cinema and education through the formation of a collection of value-oriented films and carrying out educational screenings in schools, cultural and social institutions of the Russian Federation.
  • Setting and developing international relations with professionals in the sphere of children's film, film education, and film literacy – festivals management, producers, directors, screenwriters, animators, film experts, media pedagogues.
  • Provision of incentives for talented directors, scriptwriters, producers, and other creators, whose projects contribute to the development of the audio-visual culture, maintain common human values and promote the best traditions of children’s and youth cinema.
  • Development of film education in Russia through the organization of film schools, seminars, and workshops held by professional cinematographers.

Eligibility criteria

  • If the original language of the submitted films is not English, English subtitles are required.
  • One applicant can submit 3 films at a maximum. The films which were selected for the previous editions of the festival cannot participate in the competition program of the 8th Zero Plus film festival.
  • The Festival invites films, which foster a positive, formative, and life-asserting worldview of children and young people:
  • are focused on strengthening common human values: family, friendship, childhood, understanding between people, talents, and creativity, nurture and education, the value of life, concern for nature, love for a profession, etc.
  • put forward such human qualities as kindness, friendliness, cheerfulness, care, diligence, generosity, humor, intelligence.
  • propose innovative and effective cases and solutions of the tasks in the spheres of society, culture, ecology, nurture and education, politics, economics, technologies, etc.
  • The festival doesn’t consider films that visualize destructive meanings and scenes regarding:
  • human personality: suffering, psychological disorder, suicidal thoughts, alcohol, and drug addiction, etc.
  • family, interpersonal relationships, social affairs: scandals, betrayals, violence, unresolved conflicts and dramas, careless attitude towards one another, crimes, wars, etc.
  • environment: disrespectful attitude to nature, plant life, wildlife, a planet in general.

The mission of the ZERO PLUS Film Festival is to provide children, adolescents. families with access to the films and cartoons worldwide, which are oriented to human development, transmit common human values (like friendship, family, love for the profession, creativity, life, nature, education, etc.), put forward the best human qualities (kindness, friendliness, care, mutual respect, humor, etc.). The emphasis is made on teaching a meaningful watching that implies the ability to analyze perceived visual information, reveal particular values put in it, define personal benefits of the watched films.
