Opportunity description

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship is a French government initiative managed by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. It aims to help French higher education institutions attract outstanding international students to pursue Master’s or PhD programs in France. The program is part of France’s international academic cooperation strategy and its effort to strengthen the global reputation of French higher education and research.

The Eiffel Scholarship supports high-achieving international students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in France. It provides a monthly allowance and additional benefits related to study and living expenses. While it does not cover tuition fees, the scholarship offers substantial financial assistance throughout the study period depending on the level (Master’s or PhD).

Deadline

  • For the 2026–2027 academic year, applications open on October 1, 2025, and close on November 9, 2025 (for Paris-Saclay University).

  • Final results are expected by December 2025.


Benefits

  • Master’s level: monthly allowance of approximately €1,181.

  • PhD level: monthly allowance of approximately €1,800.

  • Additional support may include health insurance, housing assistance, and other services.

  • Scholarship duration varies depending on the program and level of study.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be an international student (not residing or studying in France at the time of application).

  • Age limits:

    • Master’s applicants: born on or after March 31, 1996.

    • PhD applicants: born on or after March 31, 1990.

  • The chosen program must be in one of the eligible fields:
    Science & Technology, Health, Environmental Transition, Mathematics & Digital, Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences (Law, Economics, History, French Language, etc.).

  • Applicants can only apply once per study level.

  • Cannot combine with another French government scholarship.

  • Must apply to an eligible program at Paris-Saclay University and be nominated by the university for the Eiffel program.
