The FIBA Foundation is accepting entries for the 10th edition of the FIBA International Photography Contest 2026, which aims to showcase the beauty of basketball and its cultural and social impact through photography.
The competition invites professional and amateur photographers from around the world to submit images that capture memorable sporting moments, the spirit of competition, community connection, and the rich history of basketball.
The 2026 edition features three competition categories, with prizes that include professional photography equipment and a unique opportunity to photograph during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 in Qatar.
Competition Categories
Elite Basketball: Photographs of major games and tournaments, decisive moments, and the emotions associated with high-level basketball competition.
Community Basketball: Images highlighting the role of basketball in bringing people together, including local courts, schools, community initiatives, and activities that promote diversity and inclusion.
Vintage Basketball: Archival photographs documenting the history and development of basketball, from earlier periods through the early 2000s.
Benefits
Professional photography equipment worth CHF 2,000 will be awarded to the winner of each of the three competition categories.
FIBA Shot of the Year Award: The grand prize winner will receive a unique opportunity to take part in a 5-day photography experience during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 in Qatar.
Winning photographs will be published across the official FIBA platforms, giving photographers the opportunity to showcase their work to a global audience.
Outstanding entries may be featured in the FIBA Foundation’s annual photography book.
Participation is completely free of charge and open to professional and amateur photographers of different nationalities, with no membership requirement.
Strengthen your professional photography portfolio and gain international exposure by participating in a global competition dedicated to sports photography.
Eligibility criteria
The competition is open to participants of all nationalities, ages, and countries of residence, including all Arab countries.
Both professional and amateur photographers may participate individually, with no requirement to be a member of any organization or institution.
Participants under the age of 18 may enter with prior consent from a parent or legal guardian.
Participation is completely free of charge.
Each participant may submit up to 5 photographs, across one or more competition categories.
Images must be submitted in JPG or JPEG format, with a minimum size of 1500 pixels.
Images created or modified using artificial intelligence, as well as digital illustrations and designs, are not accepted.
Photographs taken during FIBA events or produced as part of an official FIBA assignment are not eligible.
Participants must own the rights to the submitted photographs or hold the necessary legal permissions, including for historical photographs taken by other photographers.
