Opportunity description
The Zayed Poetry Encyclopedia Foundation announces the "Treasure of the Generation" competition, which features Nabati poetry, folklore studies, and research. The award draws its inspiration from the poetry of the founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul in peace. It seeks to elevate the status of poetry as a mirror of society and the significance his poetry embodies in Emirati and Arab creativity.
Benefits
This competition aims to:
- Promote Nabati poetry, given its connection to the Arab psyche, and honor distinguished poetic experiences, publish them, and introduce their authors.
- Consolidate the poetry of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, with its aesthetic and humane values, in the Emirati and Arab psyche, and highlight this poetry from the perspective of various arts to enrich the Sheikh Zayed Poetry Encyclopedia.
- Protect folklore arts to strengthen the identity of generations by connecting them to their poetry, culture, and heritage.
- Encourage arts closely related to Nabati poetry and the Arabic language, as a cultural vessel for poetry, and to the fields of music, folk singing, painting, and Arabic calligraphy. Honoring artists, critics, and serious scholars, publishing their works, and introducing them.
- Translate the poetry of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan into living languages, in addition to translating influential and inspiring Nabati poetic texts.

About the Zayed Poetry Encyclopedia:
The Zayed Poetry Encyclopedia is an award launched by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center to honor Nabati poetry, folklore studies, and research. It is awarded to scholars and creative individuals who have presented works that address the heritage of Nabati poetry and its authentic values. The award derives its name from one of Sheikh Zayed's poems, serving as a starting point for combining creativity, thought, and criticism to create a poetic, artistic, and critical movement that makes Sheikh Zayed's creative experience a focus and starting point for new creativity.
