Opportunity description
Yale University is announcing its online Dramatic Playwriting Contest that will offer winners the chance to win $10,000.
Benefits
- The winner of this annual competition will receive the $10,000 David Charles Horn Prize and their work will be published by Yale University Press and at the competition's event.
- Note: The award and publication will depend on the playwright agreeing to the terms of the publishing agreement.
Eligibility criteria
- There is no fee to participate in this competition.
- This competition is limited to plays written in English.
- Applications are accepted from all over the world.
- Entries must be original, complete and unpublished, with a minimum of 65 pages. Plays of less than 65 pages will not be considered.
- Translated works, musicals and children's plays will not be accepted.
- The Yale Drama Series aims to support emerging playwrights.
- Playwrights will never win the competition more than once.
- Playwrights may submit only one manuscript per year.
- Professionally produced or published plays will not be accepted.
- The Yale Drama Series reserves the right to reject any manuscript for any reason.
- The Yale Drama Series reserves the right not to select a winner in any year of the competition and reserves the right to determine the ineligibility of a winner, in keeping with the spirit of the competition, and based on the achievement of an author.
