Opportunity description

The University of Strathclyde is offering a number of international scholarships for students who want to study at the Faculty of Engineering. The scholarships are available for undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes. All self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying offer holders with strong academic qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Benefits

  • If you're applying for an undergraduate degree programme, you'll receive a scholarship award equivalent to a 10% reduction of your tuition fees for each year of study. Your first year’s scholarship will typically be £2,185. 
  • The University of Strathclyde is also offering a number of Undergraduate Dean’s Excellence Awards of £4,000 per academic year of study. These awards are aimed at undergraduate applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence.
  • If you're applying for a postgraduate taught degree programme, you'll receive a scholarship award equivalent to a 15% reduction of your tuition fees, which will typically be £3,280.
  • If you're applying for a postgraduate research degree programme, you'll receive a scholarship award equivalent to a 15% reduction of your tuition fees for each year of study.
  • If you are studying a two year MSc programme, you will receive a 15% scholarship for your first year only. The amount varies for selected programmes with a different tuition fee, including programmes within Architecture & Biomedical Engineering.

Eligibility criteria

  • For the Undergraduate programmes
  • Applicants with strong academic performance in high school are encouraged to apply. Scholarship decisions will be made on the basis of information contained in your undergraduate admissions and scholarship applications.
  • To be considered for the Undergraduate Dean’s Excellence Awards of £4,000 per academic year, applicants should demonstrate academic excellence.
  • For the Postgraduate programmes
  • To be considered for the Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship applicants should have a 2:1 (or equivalent) in their undergraduate degree.
  • Students who applied for this award were required to demonstrate academic excellence (usually a UK first class undergraduate degree or international equivalent), and the potential both to make a significant contribution to the Strathclyde community during their studies and in their chosen profession upon graduation (assessed by information provided in the scholarship application form).
  • The Faculty of Engineering’s International Scholarships are only open for self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying applicants enrolling on a full-time course.  Those who receive full sponsorship from a government office or embassy are not eligible to apply.
  • Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.
  • Students who do not meet any of the required criteria in this announcement will automatically not be considered
  • The Faculty of Engineering's decision on the awarding of scholarships is final.
