Opportunity description

The ASTAR Research Attachment Programme (ARAP) offers an opportunity for international students enrolled in postgraduate or PhD programs at universities outside Singapore to spend a research attachment period at one of ASTAR’s research institutes in Singapore.

The program aims to strengthen research collaboration between international universities and A*STAR researchers, and to enable students to work on joint research projects that address global challenges in the fields of science, engineering, technology, biomedical sciences, informatics, and innovation.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be postgraduate students or PhD students registered at a university outside Singapore.
  • Applicants must be jointly nominated by a supervisor at their home university and a supervisor from A*STAR.
  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree with good academic standing, equivalent to Second-Class Upper Honours or above.
  • Applicants must have a good record in scientific research.
  • Applicants must provide strong recommendation reports.
  • Applicants must be able to communicate in English. The program does not require an official language test, but applicants must have an appropriate level of English proficiency.
  • For students enrolled in integrated master’s/PhD programs, participation in ARAP is only during the PhD phase.
