The University of Helsinki in Finland offers a scholarship program for international students applying to its English-taught international master’s programs.
The program provides a limited number of partially funded scholarships covering 50% of tuition fees, as well as fully funded tuition scholarships covering 100% of tuition fees for the standard duration of the master’s program, which is usually two years.
University of Helsinki scholarships are among the leading funded master’s scholarships in Finland for academically outstanding students from outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland, including students from Arab countries.
Students apply for the scholarship at the same time as they submit their application for admission to an international master’s program. There is no separate scholarship application form. Applicants are assessed based on academic excellence, how well they meet the program’s admission requirements, and the overall strength of their application.
Applicants should note that these scholarships cover tuition fees only. They do not usually include accommodation, living expenses, travel costs, or insurance. Students must therefore demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to cover their personal expenses during their studies in Finland.

Eligibility criteria

- Be academically eligible to pursue a master’s degree.
- Hold a recognized bachelor’s degree or complete it before the start of the program.
- Have a previous academic background relevant to the selected program.
- Meet the specific admission requirements of the chosen master’s program.
- Provide proof of English language proficiency in accordance with the university’s requirements.
- Be required to pay tuition fees.
- Have an excellent academic record.
- Submit all required documents within the specified deadlines.
- Apply for the scholarship through the master’s program application form.
- Be able to cover living, accommodation, and travel expenses in Finland.
