About the organization
The Simon Architecture Prize – Living Places is an initiative launched by Simon and developed in collaboration with the Fundació Mies van der Rohe. The prize aims to recognize excellence in architecture, especially projects that provide flexible and comfortable spaces and enhance people’s well-being and everyday experience in places for living, working, learning, and leisure. Simon is an industrial group specialized in lighting solutions, lighting control, connectivity, and equipment for homes, hotels, shops, workspaces, and urban areas. Its work focuses on design, innovation, and user experience. The Fundació Mies van der Rohe was established in 1983 by the Barcelona City Council. It works to promote knowledge of contemporary architecture and urban planning and to encourage dialogue and research in the field. The foundation also co-organizes the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award with the European Commission.
