United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)

The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is an international UN body focused on combating land degradation and drought while promoting the sustainable use of agricultural lands worldwide. UNCCD supports member states in developing effective policies and strategies for natural resource management, biodiversity protection, and improving the livelihoods of communities affected by desertification and drought. The organization also promotes scientific research, capacity building, and public awareness on environmental and climate change issues through programs such as the COP17 Press Fellowship, which provides journalists with the opportunity to highlight challenges and solutions related to land and drought at the international level.
