Opportunity description

Each year the European Commission offers 2 five months, paid training, for 1,300 trainees; administrative or translation. Starting on 1 March or 1 October, trainees gain hands-on experience of EU policy-making in a multicultural environment. This program is open to all EU citizens regardless of age with a limited number of places allocated to non EU nationals.

Eligibility:

The training program is open to university graduates who:

[1] Have a university degree or equivalent, or at least 3 years of study, corresponding to a complete cycle (Bachelor's).

[2] Have a very good knowledge (C level as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) of two EU official languages, one of which must be a procedural language: English or French or German. For non-EU nationals, only one procedural language is required.

[3] Have no prior work experience of any kind, in excess of 6 weeks in any EU institution, body or agency, EU delegations, with Members of Parliament (MEPs) or Advocates General at the EUCJ.

Upon selection, accepted candidates will receive a job description covering the tasks they will be responsible for during their training. They should receive this job description before being asked to accept the offer.

Trainees will also receive a living allowance of 1,176 € per month. The 1st living allowance is paid at the end of the first month. From then on, they will receive it on the 15th of every month.

Note: Visa costs and related medical fees may be reimbursed together with the travel expenditures.

The European Commission does not require applicants to submit any documents with their application form. Only afterward, when the assessment phase of the pre-selection is finalized, pre-identified candidates for the Virtual Blue Book will be invited to upload supporting documents in electronic versions, such as:

[1] A copy of valid ID card/passport.

[2] A copy of university qualifications declared as completed (by the deadline for applications).

[3] A proof of ongoing studies, university exchange program abroad, participation in EU/international programs, seminars/workshops, if applicable.

[4] A proof of all declared language skills other than the mother tongue/s.

[5] All declared work experience, if applicable.

[6] All declared publications, if applicable. Publications which are part of education do not count.
