Disney announced a new internship in the Digital Comics field at Marvel Entertainment in New York, United States. Marvel has printed thousands of comics over the past 80 years. The digital comics department is responsible for taking that content and making it available on digital devices. What the intern for the Digital Production Department will do is help Marvel recreate the printed books into digital formats. Marvel sends these digital-ready files to all its partners for streaming or download.
Marvel also has a subscription service called Marvel Unlimited. The intern will help develop digital comics to be read in a panel-to-panel format, this means he gets to control the reading flow and order of what the reader will see on the page. The internship will start in January - May with flexibility as needed based on academic calendars. All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help create books for digital download
- Help create books for Marvel Entertainment digital comics reader
- Redesign cover images
- Check the quality for digitally created books and files.
Basic Qualifications:
- Intern should have knowledge of the Adobe Suite programs: PHOTOSHOP, INDESIGN, ILLUSTRATOR.
- Should be responsible for organizing large amounts of files.
- A keen sense of design. Great listening skills. Work well with others. Should always be on time to work.
- Open to learning new ways of using the Adobe program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Resume must outline other internships, degrees earned, work experience, related clubs, and organizations, current major courses of study, expected graduation date and extracurricular activities.
- A cover letter must include a personal introduction, and days/times available during the internship period.
- Preferred Junior or Senior-level standing
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Required Education:
- Must be enrolled in college/university, pursuing BA/BS
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program by arrival date.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
- Must possess unrestricted work authorization
- All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session.
