Opportunity description
The Wall Street Journal internship program is an opportunity for college juniors, seniors and graduate students who intend to pursue a career in video journalism, working with some of the best journalists in the world. The 10-week internship program offers hands-on work experience and one-on-one mentorship, plus orientation and tailored training sessions. Interns are treated like full-time staff members and are encouraged to pitch their own stories and projects.
Eligibility:
- You don’t need to be an expert in business or finance to apply, but you do need to be curious and eager to learn.
- You should have a strong interest in domestic and international news, as well as business and financial news.
- Basic video shooting and editing skills, as well as an understanding of video formats and delivery methods, are necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Your primary duties will include supporting the production of editorially sound and visually compelling videos, as well as publishing and promotion of videos both on the Journal’s platforms and off-platform.
- You will set yourself apart if you are comfortable editing in Adobe Premiere and have experience with graphics in After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Required Documents:
Please submit a resume, cover letter and no more than five samples of your work. (You may include a link to a website for work samples.)
Timing:
- Summer internships take place over June, July and August, though start dates can be flexible in certain circumstances.
- Only finalists will be contacted. We will review applications on a rolling basis and strive to make selections by mid-December.
Benefits:
- Interns are paid $900 per week, and get help with the cost of public transportation.
- Housing is not provided, but they can help point you in the right direction.
