Opportunity description
The World Food Prize is offering a professional great opportunity for students interested in global issues of hunger, poverty, and development. Each academic semester and summer, a select group of highly qualified Undergraduate and Graduate students is chosen for this unique program, which provides interns with the opportunity to take significant responsibility and initiative in planning and carrying out a wide range of the Foundation’s projects.
The Internship areas:
- Archival
- Awards & Lectures Management
- Communication & Public relations
- Community Relations & Grass-root Efforts
- Event Planning
- Graphic Design
- Symposium Planning & Logistics
- Youth Programming & Education
Work hours:
- The program provides flexibility for each intern’s schedule.
- A minimum commitment of three months is required.
- 12 hours per week in the hours between 9-5 pm Monday through Friday is required.

The Interns learn first-hand both the public and private side of operating an international non-profit organization and increase their understanding of the international fight against hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.
Duties & responsibilities
All selected interns share a commitment to fulfilling The World Food Prize Foundation’s purpose of inspiring and recognizing contributions to human development through increasing the quality, quantity, and availability of food in the world.
Eligibility criteria
- Successful candidates should have a strong academic background, a solid work ethic, a capacity for analytical thinking, impeccable attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- They are enthusiastic and flexible learners, capable of both taking direction and working independently.
- Applicants must be proficient in English to be considered for placement.
- While a minimum commitment of 12-15 hours per week in the hours between 9-5 pm Monday through Friday is required for the Spring and Fall and 16-20 hours per week in the Summer.
Required Documents:
A cover letter and resume are necessary to apply; and a sample of work is necessary if applying for graphic design but welcome for other positions.
