The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) is an intergovernmental organization with diplomatic status that aims to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices in the Arab region. It works with regional governments and global organizations to initiate and lead clean energy policy dialogues, strategies, technologies, and capacity development in order to increase Arab states’ share of tomorrow’s energy.
RCREEE, in cooperation with the OPEC Fund for International Development is offering recent graduates 6 internship opportunities at its headquarters in Cairo for the Arab Program for Sustainable Energy Youth (APSEY). Responsibilities include research and analysis on renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies in the Arab World, and engaging in project support and implementation in the fields of policy, institutional development, finance, private investments, and business development activities.
Applicants must:
[1] Be recent graduates of Engineering, Environmental Studies, Economics, Political Science, International Law, or Business Administration. It is a plus if enrolled or a holder of a relevant master’s degree.
[2] Have previous experience in the field of sustainable energy and similar developmental projects
[3] Be fluent in Arabic and either in English or French
[4] Have excellent writing, editing and communication skills; in addition to having the ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
[5] Knowledge of internet and MS Office
[6] Be interested in renewable energy and energy efficiency fields
[7] Be ready to learn
Interns will receive:
[1] A monthly amount equivalent to €600 to cover accommodation and living expenses for non-Egyptians, and an equivalent of €300 for Egyptians. Interns are responsible for their medical insurance and arranging their accommodation (RCREEE provides a list of brokers’ contacts).
[2] Technical training courses by leading technical experts from the region.
[3] Soft skills training courses (communication skills, leadership and project management, business and technical writing).
[4] Hands-on training on data mining, research and analysis skills through direct involvement in RCREEE regional and country level research and analysis tools activities.
[5] The opportunity to attend workshops and/or exchange missions with other young professionals to collaborate on running projects.
