Opportunity description

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities is looking to hire a Driver for the Jordan Municipal Support Project (JMSP), the candidate will be working in the Southern regions of Jordan with a contract continuity until 2022.

Under the general direction of the deputy director and the field officer, the driver shall provide driving services to support an efficient delivery of JMSP activities in the field. They shall work in close coordination with field officers and assistant field officers in particular on transportation and logistics aspects for the field offices.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative and Logistical Support

  • Assume full responsibility for the project vehicle to provide safe transportation to and from locations for project staff
  • Maintaining accurate vehicle travel logs
  • Implementing vehicle trip schedule as needed
  • Maintaining accurate records and paperwork on all vehicle-related purchases and maintenance, including fueling and regular check-ups such as oil changing and cleanings
  • Keeping interior and exterior of vehicle clean and presentable and ready for use at any time
  • Ensure that the vehicle is used for work related purposes, as such the driver will be required to pick up the vehicle from the office premises and return it back to the office premises at the end of work day
  • In coordination with field officers and assistant field officers, assist with administrative and technical logistics of field office operations on a need basis
  • Ensure compliance with JMSP/FCM standards and local driving regulations
  • Maintain close coordination with the project staff and provides information on issues that may affect their work
  • Any other tasks assigned by the deputy director

Knowledge, Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Minimum of three to five years’ experience as a driver, ideally in southern municipalities
  3. Current valid driving license with a good driving record
  4. Demonstrate safe driving practices with a strong knowledge of national safety regulations
  5. Able to follow verbal directions, read maps, and follow GPS
  6. Reliable and punctual with a dedicated professionalism to work duties
  7. Excellent time management skills while being flexible under pressure and able to adapt to changing schedules or routines
  8. Able to assist passengers with the handling of objects when needed
  9. Candidate must be good team player with a positive attitude
  10. Demonstrate honesty, trustworthiness, initiative and self-motivation in handling all assigned tasks
  11. Able to work outside normal working hours
  12. Experience working with a non-profit organization or international organizations is preferable
  13. Acceptable written and oral communications skills in Arabic and English
  14. Applicants must be residents of one of the southern governorates preferably in Karak or Wadi Mousa
