The United Nations Development Program offers a job opportunity for residents in Jordan to work as a National Information Management Officer. The National Information Management Officer (IMO) works under the direct supervision of Head of the Information Management Unit, supporting the information management activities of the OCHA Jordan and OCHA Regional Office for Syria Crisis. The National Information Management Officer is expected to undertake a series of tasks, including data processing and visualization, including mapping. In addition, he/she will be responsible to carry out website maintenance and system development activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
[1] Development and implementation of Information Management systems and strategies.
[2] Data processing and visualization, and data analysis.
[3] Effective functioning of the OCHA Jordan and ROSC hardware and software packages which includes identifying, analyzing, designing and implementing best technological options for web-based databases and content management systems.
[4] Knowledge building and knowledge sharing which includes:
- Conducting Information Management and Mapping related trainings for humanitarian community and OCHA staff based on needs and requirements.
- Providing training to OCHA staff on OCHA's information systems and standards.
- Establishing and maintains an information network at the national level to facilitate humanitarian information exchange and the promotion of data and information sharing protocols, those developed and endorsed by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee.
Required Skills and Experience:
[1] Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in information systems, information science, business administration, disaster and emergency management, or related area is required.
Or:
A first-level university degree (i.e. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) with two (2) additional years of relevant experience in one of the above mentioned academic disciplines in combination.
[2] Up to two (2) years with Master’s degree of progressively responsible experience in managing information or management of hardware and software platforms, knowledge of Windows-based packages/applications, and database development.
[3] Experience with ArcGIS, MapInfo or other GIS tools is an advantage.
[4] Knowledge of Drupal, PHP, ASP programming and format encoding is an asset.
[5] Experience in graphic design, multimedia and products branding an advantage.
[6] Experience in the design and development of surveys, including user requirements, form design, survey implementation, data entry, data cleaning and analysis an advantage.
[7] Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English.
[8] Ability to communicate with technical as well as non-technical people.
[9] Ability to prioritize multiple tasks within an environment where many interruptions occur.
[10] Ability to work with multi-cultural teams and international professionals.
[11] Availability and fitness for travel within the region.
[12] Ability to work under stress and under tight deadlines.
