P&G is looking for a talented Associate Scientist to join the Trace Analysis Capability (TAC) team in Ohio, United States for 2021. The applicant must be a highly motivated individual who will be responsible of producing chemical transparency knowledge about raw materials, intermediates and finished products to drive innovation as well as solve tough problems across multiple categories with the use of Liquid Chromatography – Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) capabilities. This employee will be a key resource to provide analytical data-based assurance of quality, compliance, and perceived safety for all P&G Brands.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in the field of chemistry or biology and years of industrial experience in the field.
- Applied laboratory experience/proficiency using LC-MS and related techniques. Especially useful expertise includes liquid handling instrumentation (Janus, Liquidators, etc.), validating and executing analytical methodologies, general analytical chemistry skills, and working knowledge of various sample preparation techniques.
- Ultra-trace LC-MS/MS methods to characterize/quantitate substances for safety evaluations, troubleshoot manufacturing processes, create/defend claims, and drive R&D initiatives.
- Analytical strategies to evaluate toxicity of impurities in RMs according to local/int’l regulations.
- In-lab chemical models to enable go/no-go R&D decisions. Demonstrated abilities in working independently.
- Demonstrated Technical Leadership. Partner with TAC technologists to optimize the utilization, business impact and leading-edge position.
- Laboratory Capability Management. Expertise developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, instrument/operation qualifications (IQ/OQs), training protocols, validation and study reports, reference standard systems, sample preparation equipment, etc.
- Computer skills. Familiarity and proficiency in instrument control software across liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry vendors. Competence with Laboratory Information Management Systems and Electronic Lab Notebook. Data analysis using off the shelf or custom software, generating representations of data for reports.
- Ability to Embrace Change. Seeks out new ideas for doing things better, no matter where they come from. Can manage multiple priorities at any given time and is adaptable to different approaches to projects/people.
- B.S./M.S. chemistry degrees, or equivalent experience, in the analytical sciences, or a closely related field. Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices or Good Manufacturing Practices is helpful but not necessary.
Skills needed to perform this job:
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of working in trace-level analytical labs. Strong experimental and problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to focus on detail and the precision/accuracy needed for execution of analytical methods.
- Good documentation/interpretation of scientific results.
- Familiarity with ELN, LIMSs, current LC-MS technologies and database software.
- The candidate should possess excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and be an exceptional partner.
