Job Opportunity at Delivery Hero in Germany: Senior Data Engineer

Delivery Hero is offering a job opportunity as a Senior Data Engineer. The selected candidate will join the tech team in Berlin, Germany.  

Required Qualifications:

1. 4+ years data engineering.
2. At least a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative subject, e.g. computer science, physics, mathematics, economics, engineering.
3. Expert knowledge of SQL and RDBMS concepts.
4. Experience with column-oriented databases and optimization techniques thereof (preferably AWS Redshift).
5. Experience with distributed job schedulers (preferably Airflow).
6. Good knowledge of an object-oriented language (preferably Python or Java).
7. Good knowledge of Linux platforms and scripting capabilities (bash/zsh).
8. Experience with cloud data architectures (preferably AWS).
9. Good English communication skills.
10. Creative problem-solving abilities and an eye for detail.
11. Independent and rigorous working style.
12. Team player and loves to think outside the box.

Job Duties:

1. Model and build data solutions to support Delivery Hero’s growing international business.
2. Design, implement and extend an enterprise data warehouse that will support the company's commitment to analytics and data-driven business philosophy.
3. Develop and maintain ETL processing pipelines for batch and near-real-time data as well as analytical / machine learning workflows.
4. Communicate with different data teams regarding company coding and quality standards.
5. Extract data from various transactional databases, third-party tools, and APIs, e.g. Google Analytics (BigQuery), Google AdWords, Adjust, Postgres, MySQL amongst others.
6. Proactively make suggestions on how the team can leverage new technologies and architectures to improve the performance of DH data platform.
7. Contribute to meet-ups, presentations, documentation and other knowledge-sharing platforms to promote best practices and tech. stack recommendations.
