Opportunity description
The American University in Cairo is looking to recruit a Security Guard to provide security services to the university in order to reduce the opportunity for crime, and assist the security department with information in crime investigation and other security tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Work on shift rotations to monitor the alarm control panel.
- Report alarms to the security team leaders to respond to emergencies when on the shift of the alarm control panel.
- Follow up on the emergency response to make sure that the emergency reported is controlled and inactivate the alarm.
- Maintain closed doors of all offices and work areas after the working hours.
- Work closely with maintenance to report and follow up on corrective actions for incidents that require maintenance work such as and not limited to water leakage, opened doors, etc.
- Prevent thefts and report any security incidents.
- Prevent fights among students, control fights, and report them to the director for the necessary corrective actions.
- Respond to emergencies such as first aid and firefighting.
- Monitor and control demonstrations, strikes, and disruptive activities on campus.
- Enforces AUC policies such as and not limited to smoking cessation.
- Keep a log of incidents.
- Provide a monthly report with all incidents with a summary of the corrective action.
- Assist in the security services covering events, parties, and public lectures.
- Assist in the security services covering AUC internal elections.
- The possibility of rotation between different security service locations and positions.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- At least high school education diploma is “essential”.
- Training certificate for the use of the alarm control panel is “preferable”.
- Training certificate in firefighting is “preferable”.
- Training certificate in first aid is “preferable”.
- Two years of general experience in security.
- English proficiency AUC level: Basic/oral (20-30).
- Basic administrative skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures and policies.
- High level of integrity.
- Independent judgment or initiative based on previous work situations.
