Opportunity description

Google is offering a job opportunity for Customer Engineers from all nationalities and backgrounds to join the Google Cloud team in Montreal, Canada. As a Customer Engineer, you will work hand-in-hand with the Sales team to introduce Google Cloud to the customers. You will help prospective customers and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, explaining technical features and problem-solving any potential roadblocks. You will also engage with customers in order to understand their business and technical requirements, and then persuasively present practical and useful solutions using Google Cloud.

Minimum qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  2. Experience working as a technical sales engineer in a cloud computing environment or in a customer-facing role for a Professional Services or Systems Engineering team
  3. Experience with Big Data, Platform-as-a-Service and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (PaaS, IaaS) technologies
  4. Ability to travel as required

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  2. Experience in, and understanding of, data and information management, especially as it relates to big data trends and issues within businesses
  3. Experience with networking concepts including routing, VPNs, load balancers and firewalls
  4. Experience in architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems
  5. Ability to quickly learn, understand and work with new and emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT Technology space
  6. Effective presentation skills, with the ability to deliver technical presentations

Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, identify key customer technical objections and develop the strategy to resolve technical roadblocks
  2. Manage the technical relationship with Google’s customers, including overseeing product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of additional technical resources
  3. Work with customers to demonstrate and prototype Google Cloud product integrations in customer/partner environments
  4. Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution, using best practices, on Google Cloud
  5. Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required
  6. Once educational institutions, government agencies, and other businesses sign on to use Google Cloud products, you come in to facilitate making their work more productive, mobile, and collaborative
  7. Assist fellow sales Googlers by problem-solving key technical issues for customers
  8. Liaise with the product marketing management and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Cloud products
