Opportunity description

World Health Organization (WHO) offers a job opportunity as a Data Manager to join the team in Geneva, Switzerland for 2021. 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Analyze epidemiological data to monitor and evaluate progress in MNCAHA.
  2. Collaborate with Regional and country offices to facilitate the use of such data for programme implementation and decision making of the programmes in countries. 
  3. Maintain up to date the Global Health Observatory and MNCAHA data portal in the areas of global neonatal, child and adolescent mortality estimates and ageing data in collaboration with IER/WHO.
  4. Establish a data management system for periodic surveys in MNCAHA carried out by the team and provide technical support in quality assurance, data analysis and generation of evidence.
  5. Support development and implementation of analytical methods/tools and metrics to facilitate health events monitoring and evaluation. 
  6. Participate in capacity building activities to strengthen accountability in the field of MNCAHA and in preparation of technical documents and reports related to epidemiology, monitoring and evaluation.
  7. Main achievements include: Updated MNCAHA databases; Contributed to updating of Global Health Observatory; and improved quality of data.

Required qualifications:

Education:

  • Essential: A first university degree in Information Sciences, Health Sciences, Demography, Mathematics or Statistics.
  • Desirable: An advanced degree (Masters level or above)in one of the above-noted areas would be an asset.

Experience:

  • Essential: At least five years of professional experience in data analysis, data management and in statistical analysis including in the area of health. Relevant experience at international level.
  • Desirable: International experience in statistical modelling and public health.

Skills:

  1. Demonstrated skills in data collection, analysis, data visualization and reporting. 
  2. Excellent analytical, interpersonal and writing skills. 
  3. Excellent command of statistical tools and MS Excel. 
  4. The ability to manage large datasets. 
  5. Ability to process, analyse and clean databases

Benefits:

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 60,962 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4471 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
