Opportunity description

Google is offering a job opportunity as a Technical Solutions Engineer to join the Google Cloud team in Zurich, Switzerland in 2019. The Google Cloud team helps companies, schools, and government seamlessly make the switch to Google products and supports them along the way. You will be responsible for problem-solve technical issues for customers to show how products can make businesses more productive, collaborative, and innovative. You work closely with a cross-functional team of web developers and systems administrators, not to mention a variety of both regional and international customers. Your relationships with customers are crucial in helping Google grow its Google Cloud business and in bringing its product portfolio into companies around the world.

About Google Cloud:

Google Cloud helps millions of employees and organizations empower their employees, serve their customers, and build what’s next for their business — all with technology built in the cloud. Google’s products are engineered for security, reliability, and scalability, running the full stack from infrastructure to applications to devices and hardware. And the teams are dedicated to helping customers — developers, small and large businesses, educational institutions and government agencies — see the benefits of technology come to life.

Responsibilities:

  1. Own the customer’s problem through effective diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products
  2. Develop an in-depth understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis, so Google can identify and resolve future issues quickly
  3. Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud
  4. Work closely with multiple products and engineering teams to find ways to improve the product, and interact with our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to drive high-quality production
  5. Proactively understand customer issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams like Product Management or Software Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  2. Experience owning and advocating for customer issues or needs

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Experience in technical support, networking, real-time communications or telecommunications
  2. Experience with designing and managing the large distributed system
  3. Deep understanding of one or more Internet technologies: web-tech (HTTP, DNS, TLS), email (SMTP, anti-spam, anti-phishing), networking (routing, TCP/IP), IP telephony (SIP, H323), Identity (AD, LDAP, SSO, OAuth, AuthSub) and HTML5
  4. System Administrator level knowledge of Linux/Unix or Windows systems (from kernel to shell and beyond, file systems and client-server protocols)
  5. Familiarity with programming/scripting in one or more of the following: Java, C, C++, .NET, Python, Shell, Perl, JavaScript
  6. Ability to undergo additional background check clearance to work with Government clients

Benefits:

A salary will be determined with the successful applicant.
