Opportunity description
The European Union National Institutes for Culture is offering a full-time job opportunity as Events and Communication Officer at the French Institute in Amman – Jabal Al-Weibdeh for anyone who holds a valid residency in Jordan. The Events and Communication Officer will give press, communication and visibility support to the project “EU Cultural Initiatives in Jordan 2020” on behalf of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Jordan. The project is funded by the European Union and managed by the French Institute in Jordan.
Qualifications and Skills:
- University degree in one of the following areas: public relations, communication, digital marketing, journalism, social sciences, advertising or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in one of the following areas: social media, digital marketing, communication, journalism, new media, public relations, media relations or similar.
- Perfect command of English and Arabic (written, spoken, understanding).
- Excellent computer skills.
- Personal skills: Proactive, capacity to work independently, under pressure and within tight deadlines, good negotiation skills, attention to detail, diplomacy and flexibility.
General Professional Experience:
- Working with the media.
- Designing and implementing communication strategies and plans.
- Managing social media, including content creation.
- Improving social media presence and increasing number of followers.
- Writing for the web, editing and communicating complex messages in everyday terms.
- Coordinating events.
- Working with the EU or/and international organizations (a plus).
Required Tasks:
- Prepare a general communication strategy for the project.
- Online communication:
- Create a "EU4Culture in Jordan" website that should feature all past and future cultural initiatives organized and supported by the European Union in Jordan, EUNIC Jordan and EU Member States.
- Create a new website for RISE Talent Contest.
- Create an e-invitation for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC.
- Update EUNIC Jordan's general mailing list.
- Provide content to EUNIC Global phone application “Invisible Cities”.
- Promote all cultural initiatives organized by EUNIC through event websites.
- Social Media:
- Prepare a general social media strategy for the project.
- Prepare a social media plan for each cultural initiative organized and supported by EUNIC.
- Ensure fresh, dynamic & regular content in Arabic and English in all EUNIC Jordan’s online platforms: FB page, Instagram account and Twitter account.
- Ensure fresh, dynamic & regular content in Arabic and English in all European Film Festival’s online platforms: website, FB page, FB group, FB events, Instagram account and Twitter account.
- Ensure fresh, dynamic & regular content in Arabic and English in all RISE Talent Contest’s online platforms: new website, FB page, FB events, Instagram account and new Twitter account.
- Create a Facebook event for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC.
- Boost strategic or relevant posts.
- Monitor social media activity and reply to questions and comments from followers in Arabic and English in a timely manner.
- Promote all cultural initiatives organized by EUNIC through relevant FB groups ("Events in Amman", "Expats in Amman", "Jordan Events", etc).
- Offline communication:
- Source technical service providers ahead of events (light, sound, stage, sound checks…).
- Produce and distribute promotional material for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC. Examples: fridge magnets, pens, pins, mugs, USB sticks, bags, stickers, key holders, t-shirts, etc.
- Produce a visual identity for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC.
- Produce 2 photo frames in solid material for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC.
- Ensure production, printing and wide distribution of paper material (posters, booklets, leaflets, etc.) for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC.
- Produce and distribute a booklet at the end of the contract compiling all cultural initiatives accomplished.
- Produce an infographic at the end of the contract compiling all facts & figures accomplished.
- Ensure that EU and EUNIC visibility items (roll-ups, banners, lightboxes, flags, mini flags, rope flags, Gobo projections, etc.) are strategically placed on each cultural initiative organized and supported by EUNIC.
- Prepare audience questionnaires for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC.
- Create partnerships with service providers and public or private institutions for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC.
- Write public speeches for EUNIC President.
- Identify success stories.
- Photo and video:
- Ensure professional photo coverage of each cultural initiative organized and supported by EUNIC, following EU photo guidelines.
- Ensure professional video coverage of each cultural initiative organized and supported by EUNIC, following EU video guidelines.
- Update EUNIC Jordan’s picture and video databases on a regular basis.
- Ensure the production of a general short video at the end of the contract compiling all cultural initiatives accomplished.
- Press actions:
- Organize press conferences for the European Film Festival and RISE Talent Contest.
- Draft a press release in English and Arabic for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC, following EU PR guidelines.
- Prepare press kits in English and Arabic for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC.
- Organize Media interviews before, during or after each cultural initiative organized and supported by EUNIC.
- Negotiate Media partnerships for each cultural initiative organized by EUNIC or a general one for the whole duration of the contract.
- Ensure paid promotion of cultural initiatives in magazines, newspapers, Radio stations and TV stations.
- Ensure Media monitoring and Media clipping for each cultural initiative organized and supported by EUNIC.
Benefits:
A salary of 1300 JOD.
