Mercy Corps is looking for an energetic and talented intern to join the Tunisia team. The Grants and Communication Intern will support the Programs Department under the supervision of the Director of Programs. S/he will support the quality of program implementation by ensuring the implementation of Mercy Corps’ program management minimum standards, supporting the grant review process, contributing to the development and implementation of a communication plan and contributing to donor reporting. The intern will also have the opportunity to assist in new business development, supporting the country program’s efforts to grow a robust, innovative and impactful program portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong command over written and verbal French and English.
- Graduate study in international development (complete or in progress) or other relevant courses.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines.
- Strong writing skills with experience in drafting or supporting reports and/or communication pieces.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to get things done.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
- Good understanding of Mercy Corps’ overall business and its objectives.
- Knowledge of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) best practices.
- Motivated and willing to come to work each day with a sense of humor.
At the completion of this internship, the intern will:
- Have a strong understanding of program management cycle and minimum standards.
- Acquire experience in organizational strategic planning including stakeholder mapping exercises.
- Understand the role of all departments in development programs and understand the operational systems in implementing such programs.
- Have experience writing communication pieces and the development of quality reports.
- Acquire experience in developing program proposals.
- Gain a general understanding of local social, political, environmental, and economic issues, a basic grasp of their underlying causes in the local context of Tunisia, and Mercy Corps’ approach to addressing these issues.
