The United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) is seeking an intern to work at the department of Peace and Security for 6 months starting from June 2018. The Peace and Security is an organizational unit of the UN, and has a team of three professional staff with a wide range of academic partners in order to develop initiatives for knowledge sharing and capacity building for UN staff and partners. Intern duties include but are not limited to:
[1] Maintaining the “Safe and Secure Approaches in Field Environments” program database through tasks such as inserting lists of participants received from the field into the database and following up with the focal points to obtain missing data
[2] Contributing to marketing and communications through the drafting of information and correspondence
[3] Contributing to administrative tasks, internal discussions and meetings, note taking and report writing
[4] Providing support to e-learning course design, development and delivery, contribute to record keeping and provide coordination for online learning participants during the delivery of online courses
[5] Providing technical support to e-learning development process
Requirements include:
[1] Applicants must be currently enrolled in or having completed a higher degree university program (master’s or other) in learning/instruction design, organization development with specialized knowledge in learning and training/human resources development, or an area related to UNSSC programmatic priorities
[2] No previous work experience is required. However, practical experience in the design, development, and delivery of a range of learning products, including e-learning is highly desirable
[3] Fluency (written and oral) in English
[4] Knowledge of online learning and social media tools, and proven ability to use Microsoft Office, internet browsers and online platforms
[5] Ability to learn and act in a fast-paced environment, and work effectively as part of a team
Interns who are not financially supported by other institutions shall receive a stipend from UNSSC of €450 to assist in covering basic subsistence costs. The cost of travel, visa, accommodation, vaccines and health insurance are the responsibility of interns.
The United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) with its headquarters in Turin, Italy, is the United Nations institution for system-wide knowledge management, learning and training for the staff of the United Nations system. The College is expected to play a pivotal role in contributing to UN reform, the development of a common culture based on effectiveness, expertise and continuous learning through the development, co-ordination and provision of cross-cutting learning programs which impact on all agencies and staff.
