Opportunity description
I TATTI announces the opening of application for the Wallace Fellowships. It is a residential fellowship of four or six months in length. Up to four fellowships will be awarded every year. The Wallace Fellowships are designed for scholars who explore the historiography and impact of the Italian Renaissance in the Modern Era (19th-21st centuries). They are made possibly by a generous grant from The Lila Wallace – Reader’s Digest Fund.
Projects could address a range of topics from historiography to the reaction to, transformation of, and commentary on the Italian Renaissance and its ties to modernity. Also welcome are projects on museums and collecting history, and on the survival of the Renaissance in modern art and architecture (including photography and landscape architecture), in literature and music, and in philosophy and political thought.
Benefits:
- A stipend of $4,000 per month.
- A one-time supplement (maximum $1,500) towards relocation expenses.
- A one-bedroom apartment will be set aside for the Fellow’s use, rent free, but with charges for utilities.
- If an apartment is not available, $1,000 per month will be offered to help offset rental costs.
- Fellows can enjoy all the privileges of the Harvard Center including use of the Biblioteca Berenson seven days a week and lunch with other Appointees from Monday through Friday.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be conversant in English and have familiarity with Italian.
- At the time of application, a PhD is required.
- Priority will be given to early and mid-career scholars.
- Projects can address the historiography or impact of the Renaissance on any field.
- I TATTI welcomes applications from scholars from all nations.
