Opportunity description

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Jordan is looking for an enthusiastic intern to work within the Youth Program for six months to help mainly with research, documentation, and project management. The internship aims to enhance the educational experience of young people through practical involvement in UNFPA’s projects in Jordan; as well as provide them with an exposure to the working environment of a multilateral organization. Applicants must be fresh graduates or currently enrolled in a university in the fields of International Development, Youth Development, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or any other similar subject. They must also have excellent communication skills in English, strong research and writing skills, previous volunteer experience from a non-profit sector or engagement with youth groups, and have an entrepreneurial spirit. The duties include supporting the Youth Program through implementing it, including humanitarian and developmental components. Interns are also expected to have creative ideas, support and organize resources, proof-read and edit documents, undertake general administrative tasks, and help with the seminars and workshops. Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview.

Travel, living expenses, visa application fees and any other costs related to the internship must be borne by the intern unless provided by a sponsoring institution. UNFPA will only cover travel costs that are related to the implementation of projects in Jordan which the intern is assigned to. Interns will have an increased understanding of UNFPA’s work and the UN system by the end of the internship, as well as have substantive knowledge of youth development in general.
