The company is seeking an experienced Abuse & Compliance Manager to strengthen and lead its abuse handling and regulatory compliance operations. This role is critical in safeguarding the infrastructure, ensuring legal adherence, and maintaining a secure and trustworthy hosting environment. The professional will manage abuse investigations, legal requests, and communication with both customers and official authorities.
Duties & responsibilities
Reviews, investigates, and resolves all abuse reports including phishing, spam, malware, botnet activity, port scanning, DDoS attacks, and illegal content.
Processes and responds to DMCA takedown requests, copyright complaints, and inquiries from law enforcement in accordance with policies.
Handles requests and inquiries issued by official authorities and ensures timely, accurate responses.
Collaborates with system administrators and security teams to mitigate abusive activity and secure compromised services.
Analyzes recurring abuse patterns, documents findings, and escalates them to management.
Communicates clearly and professionally with customers regarding abuse investigations and required actions.
Monitors IP reputation and blacklist status, coordinating with internal teams to maintain clean network ranges.
Ensures all actions and communications are properly documented in compliance with legal and internal audit standards.
Contributes to the development and improvement of abuse-handling workflows and response templates.
Provides support during internal and external audits, regulatory assessments, and compliance reviews.
Eligibility criteria
Minimum of 4 years of experience in abuse handling, hosting support, cybersecurity operations, or a related field.
Strong understanding of abuse types specific to hosting environments (VPS, Dedicated, Shared Hosting).
Expertise in identifying and analyzing phishing, spam, malware, botnet behavior, DDoS indicators, and scanning activity.
Knowledge of DMCA regulations, data protection laws, and international compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
Proficiency in email header analysis, WHOIS lookups, IP log investigation, and abuse management tools.
Excellent written English communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently, stay objective during sensitive cases, and thrive under pressure.
Familiarity with abuse automation platforms, Linux command-line, networking knowledge, and ticketing systems is a plus.
