Opportunity description

Hyatt offers a full-time job opportunity to work as a Chef de Cuisine at Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa in the US. The role is a stepping stone to becoming an Executive Sous Chef and discovering your place to shine in a respectful, inclusive culture.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:
  • Communicate clearly and be decisive in your actions, with a solution-oriented attitude.
  • Act as a positive mentor for junior chefs, hourly associates, and all other colleagues throughout the resort.
  • Follow grooming standards at all times and be confident in interacting with hotel guests.
  • Support the Executive Chef in ordering, Manage Microsoft Outlook, and respond in a timely manner to requests from colleagues, vendors, and guests.
  • Attend daily management meetings with the culinary management and the Executive Chef.
  • Drive food safety and workplace safety on a regular basis in line with Ecosure guidelines.
  • Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating, and hiring.
  • Expedite meal services, remaining calm under pressure.
  • Monitor food production, ordering, cost, quality, and consistency on a daily basis.
  • Report via appropriate channels and follow up on any engineering concerns in their kitchen.
  • Communicate clearly with the purchasing manager on requisitions, purchase orders, and general purchasing concerns.
  • Remain open-minded and have a desire to continue to grow and learn in the role.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations.
  • Strong leadership, organization, and relationship skills.
  • Experience with training, basic financial management, and customer service.
  • Proficient in general computer knowledge.
  • A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environment.
  • Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner.
  • Strong training and communication skills.
  • Culinary education and/or on-the-job training, and independent restaurant experience is preferred.
  • A valid food safety management certification through Servsafe, along with an allergy certification.
  • Geographic and schedule flexibility preferred.
