The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announces its need for an Assistant Consulting Electrical Design Engineer at the Headquarters in Gaza. The engineer will be responsible for performing design tasks (calculations, modeling, drafting, quantity estimation, and preparation of Bills of Quantities/specifications) in the Design Department – UNRWA Headquarters (Amman), in accordance with UNRWA policies and procedures.
Duties & responsibilities
- Assist in preparing tender documents (electrical works portion) through systematic procedures consistent with other works.
- Assist in preparing technical specifications for materials identified during design works.
- Ensure timely delivery of design tasks according to the schedule set by the direct supervisor.
- Archive all completed work while adhering to deadlines.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities and cost estimates for the works designed by staff.
- Conduct market research on materials used during design, ensuring awareness of the latest global market developments.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Eligibility criteria
- A university degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited educational institution.
- At least 4 years of experience in designing electrical systems for solar energy (primarily construction works).
- Proficiency in computer-aided design and drafting (primarily AutoCAD).
- Proficiency in computer modeling and design of solar energy systems (primarily PVsyst).
- Experience in designing and drafting electrical works for construction projects (such as schools, health centers, and residential projects) and basic infrastructure (such as street lighting, small pumps, and solar-powered wells).
- Proficiency in English and Arabic, both spoken and written.
