Opportunity description
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announces its need for a Head of Product Development Department. The incumbent will coordinate with other ICT management units to provide technology solutions and implement high-performance, optimized, and efficient software solutions, in line with the requirements of all business operations and established standards.
Duties & responsibilities
- Oversee the full development lifecycle of the digital archiving system project, built using Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Cognitive Services, Document Intelligence, MS SQL, and .Net.
- Guide the project development team to deliver, scale, and enhance the product within the defined timelines.
- Evaluate the product’s AI outcomes, train users, and implement improvements.
- Ensure the product’s quality, security, performance, and alignment with business objectives.
- Provide technical guidance, review deliverables, and direct cross-functional development teams.
- Troubleshoot product issues, prioritize backlog items, and drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare product documentation, release notes, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Provide regular progress updates and lead structured Agile meetings across teams.
Eligibility criteria
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. A relevant first university degree with two years of practical experience may be accepted as a substitute for the advanced degree.
- At least 5 years of experience in product leadership, software development, or technical roles in service delivery.
- Proven experience leading teams delivering products built using Power Platform, .Net, MS SQL, Azure services, and RESTful integrations.
- Hands-on experience in managing, training, improving, and developing AI integration using appropriate LLM models.
- Extensive experience in defining product roadmaps, prioritizing development tasks, and leading cross-functional teams using Agile methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and guide development teams, ensuring alignment with product objectives and technical standards.
- Experience translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performance technical solutions.
- Solid experience in troubleshooting complex systems, optimizing product workflows, and improving operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required, as these are UNRWA working languages.
- The selected candidate will receive a monthly salary equivalent to P3 Step 1, i.e., USD 7,924.25 per completed month. The contract duration is up to 12 months.
