Opportunity description

McKinsey & Company is offering Global Sourcing Center Internship for 12 months in San Jose, California. You will be part of our Americas Sourcing Center global team based in our San Jose office. 

The Americas Sourcing Center (ASC) team is composed by analysts located in Brazil and Costa Rica, and is part of our network of sourcing centers across the globe, i.e. Delhi, Shanghai, Wroclaw, Bangkok, Hanoi and Jakarta. The leadership group is located and managed from the US. 

Duties & responsibilities

  1. You will conduct desk research on a wide variety of sourcing topics related to procurement and product development. 
  2. In this role you will work closely with regional team leaders, and will support consulting teams with desk research, analyzing and synthesizing information. You will find the best suppliers across a variety of industrial categories, as well as create ad hoc market and supplier insights. 
  3. You will actively leverage our digital tools and contribute with your feedback for continuous product improvements. You will prepare written and visual materials based upon analysis and synthesis. You will be encouraged to start building and maintaining relationships with relevant industry and governmental agencies providing sourcing data and knowledge.

Eligibility criteria

  • Final year student or recent bachelor's degree graduate in business, engineering or economics
  • Demonstrated credibility in performance improvement, strategy/market analysis or operations
  • Genuine interest in global procurement strategies
  • Interest in developing a deep knowledge of markets and industries in Latin and North America
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen
  • Strong team orientation, professional attitude, and service orientation
  • Able to manage suppliers and interface with senior clients
  • Proven ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and work collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish; Portuguese is a plus
  • Programming and coding skills, i.e. Python, C++, R, etc., are a big plus
