Opportunity description

Disney is offering an internship opportunity for students at KFSN TV station in the USA.

Duties & responsibilities

Some of your projects with the KFSN Newsroom team may include:

  • The opportunity to attend production meetings.
  • Assist the assignment desk.
  • Answering phones and conducting beat checks.
  • View and log tapes.
  • Transcribe interviews.
  • Research news topics (including online/social media news research).
  • Aid in the planning of news series.
  • Observe editors, writers, producers, directors, and technical crews.
  • Travel with reporters and field crews for stories and live remotes on occasion.

Eligibility criteria

Basic Qualifications:

  • Major or previous coursework in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related major.
  • Experience with MS Office.
  • Prior newsroom internship.
  • Strong, ongoing knowledge of hard news/current events.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Courses are taken in producing/writing/editing
  • Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news, and new media production; and/or television news script writing.
  • Thorough knowledge/experience using social media.
  • Junior or Senior-level standing, or a recent graduate within 18 months of graduation date.

Additional Information:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 18 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
  • All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session.
  • All candidates must be able to provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
  • All candidates must be available from September 2021 through early January 2022.
  • All candidates must be available to work 20 hours per week.
