Disney is offering students an internship in Media & Entertainment Distribution Finance in the USA

Duties & responsibilities

As a Finance Intern, you will have the opportunity to be part of one of the teams below;

  • Technology Planning - DMED Technology is building our future partnering and strategizing with Technology teams to implement change, products, platforms and advancements.
  • FX - FX is comprised of the networks FX, FXX and FXM, the video on-demand app FXNOW, and the streaming hub FX on HULU that features exclusive FX series, next day access to current FX and FXX series, and FX Networks’ library of legacy series. FX, the flagship general entertainment basic cable channel, launched in June of 1994 and is carried in 86 million homes.
  • Platform Distribution - The Disney Platform Distribution team manages all third-party sales efforts for our film and series content (across theatrical home entertainment and licensing), linear networks and direct-to-consumer platforms; as well as management of Disney’s iconic El Capitan Theatre and the Disney Music Group.
  • Segment Planning - Consumer, Networks, and Content Sales and Licensing organizations which represent approximately $51B in total revenue to the Company. Additionally, this team supports day-to-day planning of the segment’s central administration costs (Functional labor and overhead, corporate allocations, and other costs).

A Day in the Life:

  • Operating plans, forecasts, and strategic plans.
  • P&L planning, budget, Variance, quarter, trend and acquisition analysis.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), project modeling and variance analysis.
  • Evaluating new or existing business opportunities, researching industry/external trends and evaluating their potential impact.
  • Long-term Strategic Planning & Consolidation.
  • Ad hoc requests and reporting for your team and Senior Executives.

Eligibility criteria

  • Current Junior, Rising Senior or Graduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or equivalent.
  • A solid skill set gained through course work in Finance, Accounting and Business Administration
  • Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a willingness to embrace and adapt to an ever-changing environment and work situation
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
  • Collaborative mindset combined with ability to work independently
  • Data analytics mindset
  • Ability to structure projects and handle ambiguous data
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Data Visualization (i.e. Tableau) and Business Intelligence Tools

Additional Information:

  • Program Dates: Approximately May/June 2022 through August 2022
  • Must be available to work full time hours approximately 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide own housing and transportation to and from work.
  • Many positions will be hybrid working some days in the office and some days working remotely each week and requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated work space for working remotely
