Amazon is advertising a job opportunity as a data center control technical officer in the United States of America. The Data Center Controls Engineering team is looking for exceptional applicants to join the company's controls ecosystem as a technician responsible for service controls and building management systems (BMS) and electrical energy monitoring systems (EPMS) within Amazon's data centers. You must have a strong technical background and experience in troubleshooting, operating and/or maintaining field sensors, controls, wiring, networking and programming associated with industrial control systems, and preferably related experience in the operation and maintenance of mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems. You will be responsible for participating in the installation, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of equipment and control system associated with the operation of the BMS and EPMS in data centers.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Primarily working in and supporting multiple data centers by activating, servicing and upgrading BMS and EPMS systems.
- Perform first line center diagnostics, troubleshooting and maintenance of programming codes and hardware associated with BMS and EPMS in data centers.
- Perform point-to-point pulls between field devices and controllers.
- Monitor, maintain and manage computer systems for BMS and EPMS installations.
- Management of small and medium-sized projects and programs.
- Installing, replacing, configuring and calibrating sensors.
- Supervise low voltage electrical contractors wiring and installing field devices in compliance with AWS requirements.
- Instruct and train facilities team members on the operation and control of building management systems and EPMS.
- Create redline drawings and document systems.
- Follow the change management process to create work requests.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the manager.
- Recommend design improvements based on consultation with users and system operation.
- Ensure that all employees on site use appropriate safety methodologies.
- Work on call and on a rotating schedule when needed and respond to emergencies after work hours.
- Perform service activities such as monitoring/reviewing ticketing systems, prioritizing tasks.
- Effectively manage service agreements to include vendor work scheduling, quality assurance, and financial invoice review.

Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Minimum one year of experience working with computer components and operating systems.
- Minimum one year of experience with low and medium voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Basic understanding of industrial control system, controllers, and programming including troubleshooting of analog, discrete and networked industrial controls and input/output field signals.
It is preferable to have:
- One year experience in data center.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or any related field.
- International Society of Automation Transformation (ISA) Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level 1 or higher.
- Basic knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cables.
