Opportunity description

Disney announces a job opportunity as a Media Systems Engineer in Australia. You will be responsible for the direct maintenance of all departmental computer and video systems, assisting the manager in planning, designing, purchasing, and implementing media technology systems, and providing systems and procedures support to production teams and technical staff.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-level support for the studio's Avid Media Composer software.
  • Providing direct maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment installation for all technical and operational departments in the studio.
  • Acquire and maintain expert knowledge of the facility's audio, video, data, network, and other systems.
  • Working with global peers and team members to design, install, and document new media production systems.
  • Creating and maintaining systems documentation.
  • Guiding technical staff and the production team on the proper operation and procedures of media systems.
  • Collaborating with key personnel across various departments and divisions regarding current and new technologies.
  • Attending departmental and project meetings to review current and future needs, and providing updates and guidance on system capabilities.
  • Conducting research and evaluations of new technologies and trends to assess their impact on current and future projects.
  • Participating in maintenance, upgrades, and installation of essential systems outside of business hours, as well as working shifts when needed to ensure the smooth operation of studio technology.
  • Working to ensure security best practices are implemented and maintained.
  • Working on other special projects as needed.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Experience in installation and maintenance of complex audio/video systems in post-production facilities.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience in media production and post-production technologies, various media file formats, compression and encapsulation systems, video transport streams, etc.
  • Experience in rendering technologies and applications.
  • Experience in troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Advanced skills in Linux, Mac OS, and Windows systems configuration.
  • Basic scripting experience using Python or other programming languages.
  • Familiarity with AV network broadcast technologies.
  • Certified or extensive experience with media creation software is preferred.
