Opportunity description
The Surface Silicon Architecture team is currently recruiting a Principal Media and I/O Architect Silicon Architect with a passion for delivering high-quality experiences. You will be responsible to provide detailed requirements, innovate on capabilities and experiences seeking improving Media and I/O in the designs while enabling unique experiences by working with Windows OS, 1st party applications, and SW vendors. You in collaboration with the rest of the team will work with system engineers in specifying the SoC needs delivering security and privacy capabilities.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Determination of requirements in a range of Media and I/O capabilities including but not limited to imaging processing requirements and flows, audio processing requirements and flows, USB/TBT, PCI, SPI, GPIO, and other I/O subsystem and external interconnects.
- Complete performance and power studies relating to certification and standards compliance readiness.
- IP/SoC Media and I/O strategy based on knowledge of industry capabilities and tuning methods.
- Evaluating and defining IP goals and architecture that enable devices to experience expectations.
- Contribute to the selection of IPs that meets devices' product expectation and experiences.
- Understands SoC architecture and contributes to decisions based on IP capabilities, functionality, and value.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- 5 or more years of Media and I/O architecture and design for client computing and/or mobile computing, power/performance trade-off, tuning methods, and SW components interactions as related to Media and I/O IP and subsystems.
- HW design experience with SoCs, CPU architectures, and related media and I/O functionality.
- HW/SW interaction and IP configuration.
- SoC Certification Process and Requirement.
- System architecture for a client, mobile, automotive, gaming, or server platforms.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a high-paced product development environment.
- Willing to travel internationally up to 10%.
- Capable to manage a great level of ambiguity and minimal direction to extract relevant goals while driving to completion.
Experience qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience.
- OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience.
- OR 7+ years of technical engineering experience.
